CPAP

Once you are diagnosed with sleep apnoea, and you have finally figured out the reason for feeling tired during the day. Your doctor may refer you to initiate CPAP therapy. The first question which most patients have is what is CPAP?

CPAP treatment refers to the utilisation of continuous positive airway pressure which allows to prevent the airways from collapsing, in turn prevent obstructive sleep apnoea events.

With the correct adjustment of pressure and an adequate mask fit, most patients can have an optimal response to CPAP, lowering their AHI (apnoea/hypopnea index) to the normal range.

Benefits of CPAP therapy:
  • Reduced snoring leading to better nights sleep for you and your partner
  • More restful sleep due to less disturbances
  • Improved lifestyle
  • Long term health benefits

CPAP Trial

At SleepMed Health Services, our team of CPAP consultants will immediately have an impact on you from the first appointment.

The initial appointment will be spent understanding your sleep study results, followed by understanding CPAP. The trial phase involves hiring a CPAP device from us for up to 4 weeks. You will be in regular contact with your CPAP consultant during that period to address the appropriateness of the machine settings and the mask fit. You will also be offered encouragement and troubleshooting guidance should any issues arise. We also offer CPAP consultations via tele-health.

You will then see a CPAP consultant once a week for 4 weeks where great effort will be made to address the appropriateness of the machine settings and the mask fit. You will be provided continuous support throughout the trial which includes encouragement and troubleshooting. We are now also offering this service via tele-consultations for patients who may not be able to attend face-face appointments weekly. Should your CPAP consultant require a change of mask, you may be asked to attend the appointment in person.

Reporting

At SleepMed Health Services, our main priority are our patients. Hence, we look after the reporting side of things and liaise directly with your healthcare provider. We create a centralised system which may consist of us, your service provider, your referring Doctor and the respiratory and sleep physician.

Concluding a trial: Once the CPAP consultant is content with the CPAP usage and its outcomes, you will have the option to purchase your CPAP package directly from us. The benefits of buying from us include: continuous monitoring and reporting, competitive pricing, complimentary support for 6 months and availability of staff for assistance and liaison with other healthcare professionals.

Therapy Plans: We also offer therapy plans, whereby devices may be purchased on weekly payments, rather than paying upfront.
